Featured Article - Mission Report
As I sat looking over the city of Bogotà Columbia, I was overwhelmed with the love of God for the people of South and Central America. Five days were spent in El Progresso, Honduras with Pastor David Brown and a great ministry team. We saw God's love manifest as many were healed and hundreds were born again. Crowds of around 13,000 gathered each night, and God showed up and showed out! What a great blessing! I was privileged to make new friends like Stanley Black, Denny Keitzman, Dr. Friend, Chris McDonald, Jonathan Armbruster, Bodie Gregory, Abel Zavala and band, and Gladys Padilla and renew my relationship with Pastor David. Each one of these people enriched my life, and I thank God for the special times and experiences we shared together. Now, it was time for another city and a different kind of ministry. Had I heard God correctly? Is this the right time to be in Bogotà? Have I prepared properly? Do I have a word in season? Questions raced through my mind as I stood at the threshold of God's purpose for my life, but the still, small voice of God always brings me the peace that passes all understanding. I am so thankful that God gives us ears to hear and eyes to see what the Spirit is doing. As I looked out over the city, I was assured that God had brought me there in His perfect will. I was greeted at the airport and escorted by a wonderful lady, Maru Gutierrez! The evening I arrived Maru showed me the ministry compound. We had a good visit about her ministry with Rick Warren and Purpose Driven and the area pastors that had been invited to our pastor's conference that would be held the next day. I had asked to be driven around the city, so I could pray and put my feet on the ground physically. When we came to this summit overlooking the city, I was thrilled! It was the perfect view and after a short time of reflecting, we praised God for what He was going to do beginning in Bogotà. The next morning we had about 35 to 40 people come to the conference, about 30 pastors and other five-fold ministers, as well. I was very pleased with Maru's preparations and the wide cross-section she was able to assemble. Pastors with churches of 50 members to over 2,000 members attended. She had invited pastors from all over the city; some traveled over an hour to get there. The conference was very successful, and God blessed many of them in a very personal way through prophetic words. The pastors all seemed to have grasped the vision I was sharing with them. We started receiving feed back right away, and most of what we heard was extremely positive. I was also invited to speak in one of the churches at a leadership training. They had a lot of leaders, well over a hundred. God was good. He healed several people and again my prophetic gift was very active. Praise God for the great things He does, even when my primary purpose was to set up future ministry. Maru and her staff, a lovely couple, Nelson Contreras and his wife, Alexandra took great care of me while I was there and even gave me a wonderful gift as I was leaving for home. We hope to be back in Bogotà to start training classes in August or September, 2007. In the meantime, materials need to be translated and printed. We will be creating a video presentation in English and Spanish. Arrangements will be made for the pastors to certify the training courses, as they teach others this dynamic soul-winning course. The unity of these pastors is a critical point, so please continue to pray for Bogotà. It is the beginning of a great network of kingdom-minded ministry throughout Central and South America. Thanks again for your support, prayers and encouragement.
Fred Hughes [Return To Top] Prophetic Countdown - Look at the Lilies!
(Headlines form 70 years ago! Great headlines for today!)
From the March 27, 1937, issue of Science Newsletter
NEW GLIMPSE OF LILY'S BEAUTY WON BY X-RAYS "Transparency" is a beauty often praised in white lilies, though the term is always recognized to be of figurative rather than literal application. But it is made literally true by a skilled X-ray artist, Miss Francis Mildred Davis, of Santa Monica, Calif. Arrangement of flower parts, even within the unopened buds, and the delicate veining of leaves and petals, are all brought out on her film.
(From: Science News Online ) Easter Sunday is coming soon! The lovely lilies are like little bells ringing or trumpets sounding the Good News, "He Is Risen!" In all of the prophetic word there is no greater example of the truth of the gospel than Jesus having defeated death and hell, rising bodily from the grave after three days, just as He prophesied. How amazing is our God! This Easter Celebrate Jesus! Understand that He is our soon-coming King! Yes, there is more prophesy to be fulfilled! Praise God! Easter serves as a great reminder that His word is true, and our future is bright! Shalom! Rev 19:11-13 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. Rev 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
[Return To Top] Decision One - Ministry growth, this is good!
The ministry is growing and this is good, but it also brings with it some challenges, also good! Challenges are just an opportunity to grow. I was praying recently, and God said, "You have not because you ask not," so I have been asking God for several things. I want to share those things, so you can help me pray the prayer of agreement. I am asking God for favor and wisdom. Favor and wisdom. Please agree with me that God will grant these two things, so this ministry will prosper and be able to make wise decisions in all that we endeavor to do. We have several projects we are currently working on. We need prayer and support for these areas we have already committed to: - Uganda / Kenya - water wells - African outreach
- Website development (to Spanish) & webmaster and development team
- E-mail and contact anointed response and prayer team
- Printed materials & books (English/Spanish)
- Bogotá, Columbia office and training courses -- the beginning of a major outreach to Central and South America
- Manila, Philippines - office and ongoing mission trips
There is much more vision, but we must put our faith together for the provision of these things first, then God will give us more ground to take. Thank you for your support and prayers. In Christ Alone!

[Return To Top] Trips & Tips
The time for our next trip is on the drawing board for now! I need to do some itinerary work here in the USA, before I can go again. In August or September, Pastor Tony Poole and I will kick off the training courses in Bogotà, Columbia. I have some interest in a trip to the Philippines. Please let me know if you would like to go. We will be establishing some other trips later. For now we have some pressing work that we must do and not enough staff to do it all at once. Please be patient, and we will announce trips as we can.
