Featured Article - Philippines 2006

Would you like to visit the Philippines? Then get ready and get your passport now! This Sept. 22 nd – Oct. 6th, 2006 there will be a two week mission trip to the Philippines. The team will be leaving from Amarillo, TX, but you can come from anywhere in the US and meet up in LA or Manila. This team is being assembled by Pastors Fred & Irene Hughes of Decision Ministries. The team will be hosted by Rev. Tony & Calli Poole and will be staying at the Dunamis Mission Centre in Manila, Philippines. .

.

What can you expect to do or see while you are there?

Our first journey will be to set out for the region of Benguet in Northern Luzon where we will be holding a Pastor’s Conference for three days. Some of the activities will be to hold workshops for pastors and leaders during the daytime. The team will fan out into the villages with volunteer interpreters to invite the locals to the evening revival services. You will also have the opportunity to witness to and pray for the individual families during the visits. You can expect to see lots of breath-taking scenic views in this region that has been named the “roof” of Northern Luzon, due to the fact that it straddles on the Cordillera mountain ranges.

After spending a few days ministering to the precious people of Benguet, we will move two hours further north to Bontoc City where we will drive by some of the most amazing landscapes, including the rice terraces some of which are more than 1,000 years old carved into the mountainsides that the Philippines is famous for. We will spend a day ministering in Bantoc before returning to Benguet for the night. The following morning we will begin our journey back to Manila, but not before stopping on the way to shop and rest in Baguio City, an awesome tourist spot with amazing natural beauty and great shopping for native trinkets and snacks. After a few hours we will continue home where we will rest a couple of days and recuperate from our journey. We will then minister in Payatas Slum in Quezon City for a day. This garbage dumpsite is home to roughly 30,000 inhabitants who burrow in and around what is perhaps the biggest piece of garbage architecture in the world. This garbage mound is seven stories high in some places and provides income for close to 150,000 Filipinos who scavenge the 7,500 tons of household waste dumped there daily for scraps and recyclables to sell. We plan to witness and pray for families, give out school supplies to children and youth, and preach life to these people. .

.

This trip will not be all work, for we will have some down time to go to the ocean for a day of sun, snorkeling, or scuba for any certified divers. If we have enough team members that want to do so, we will rent a bungalow off the beach for the night and have some amazing worship and Bible study time right there on the sand, underneath the palm trees and some of the clearest starlit skies you have ever seen. The food is great, and if you like seafood, we are planning a seafood night at one of our local markets. You won’t believe what a wonderful and rewarding experience this mission will be! Be a part of this beautiful culture and help us reach out to the needy and share with them the life saving truth of Jesus Christ. This is the perfect opportunity to share God’s love to these wonderful people.

.

Each team member needs to have approximately $2,000.00 for the airplane flights, accommodations, food, and island excursions. In addition to the trip cost, some spending and offering money will be needed. Don’t let the money scare you away. If you need help, find sponsors or ask your church to help, have a church garage sale, or get some friends to help you with a car wash. Ask and you shall receive. Amen! If you are unable to come yourself, but the Lord is putting it on your heart to help contribute financially, please send donations to the address listed below. Your donations can fund all the conferences, travel expenses, and school supplies for the youth and children. Even if you are not there with us, you are just as much a part of the blessing and reaping of all the souls in this harvest. .

.

Our first team meeting of three is on August 14th in Amarillo, TX. All team meetings will be held at Refuge Worship Center. Pastor Errol Hanier will be hosting the training sessions; he and his wife, Dena, are co-leaders with Fred and Irene Hughes on this exciting mission. We want you to be a part, too! We need prayer support, financial support, more team members, good weather, and favor with local authorities while there.

Fred Hughes

Prophetic Countdown - Cont_2.jpg

Tuesday, July 25, 2006 Associated Press

BRUSSELS, Belgium — As world leaders scramble to secure a cease-fire in Lebanon, a crucial question arises: Who will ensure the peace? Israel has suggested it prefers a NATO-led coalition — not the traditional U.N. peacekeeping force that has tried but failed to bring peace to Lebanon the last three decades. But the alliance's member states are already stretched in missions elsewhere, including full-scale combat in Afghanistan. Precedents in Kosovo and Bosnia also raise questions about the ability of even a NATO-led force to impose its will.

Headlines such as this one have been everywhere over the last few weeks as the world looks on and the signs of our times appear before our eyes. Jesus said in Matthew 16:1-3:

Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. He answered and said to them, "When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah." And He left them and departed.

1 Chronicles 12: 32 of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command;

1 Thessalonians 5:1-6 But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, "Peace and safety!" then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.

I want to bring the Word in on this and say we are not in the dark! We are able by the Holy Spirit to know and be aware of the signs of our time. We are well equipped to hear the voice of God, and therefore, we have no need to enter into fear. God did not give us a spirit of fear. He gave us POWER, LOVE and A SOUND MIND. We have these great weapons and many more, especially our communication network. We can hear our Commander-in-Chief. We can know what time it is, and like the sons of Issachar, we can know what to do. We need to be praying that Israel and their men will hear what they should do. They do not need to hear what Condi is saying; they need to hear the voice of the God of Abraham, Issac, Jacob and Moses.

Decision One - Words

Our Words Are Seeds Planted Into Other People's Lives

What we say is important. The Bible states that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt. 12:34). We need to change our vocabulary. We need to speak words of life and light. Our talk should always rise to the level of the Word of God.

We Christians should be known as people who speak positively, those who speak the Word of God into situations, those who speak forth words of life.
In John 6:43, our Lord instructed His disciples, "Murmur not among yourselves." In Philippians 2:14 -15, the Apostle Paul exhorted the believers of his day:

"Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world."

Contrary to what you may have heard, talk is not cheap. Talk is very expensive. We should know that our words are powerful. What we say affects what we get from others, and what others get from us. When we speak the wrong word, it lessens our ability to see and hear the will of God.

.

The Bible calls Jesus the King of Kings! Who are those kings He is king over? Right you are! That would be us. Believers, our God has made us to be kings! Another place the scriptures proclaim us to be a "royal priesthood." We are kings and priests! A king rules by the decree or his words. A priest speaks in behalf of God's words. Therefore, as believers we rule and reign in Jesus name. We rule by decree of God's Word. Decision one is to mark our words carefully, for they are very powerful.

Trips & Tips - Passing the Test

There are many things to consider and a test to pass, before you can bring a good report back to your church or to the people who support your mission trip. First, you must pass the test of experience. You have nothing to say if you never had to overcome anything. We are overcomers, and we have a testimony because we have made it through the test God helped us overcome. Secondly, we have to pass the test of who we are! We have to have a passport, or we do not pass through the borders. Like our passports, God's Word will identify who we are in Christ as we go and minister for the Kingdom of God. Third, we have to pass the test of patience. Every trip has it's ups and downs, but the trying of our faith test always seems to show up. It likes to push our patience right over the edge. Prayer and preparation will have you ready to pass all the tests and come home with a great report of what great things God has done!
