Where is the power?
The power source of the electricity coming into your house originates from a single source of power. There are very many outlets in a home whereby you can tap into the power source and many uses for the power that is delivered to those outlets.
Where is the power? The Father? Jesus (The Word)? Holy Spirit? The anointing? The Church? Unity? Love? Faith? Gifts of the Spirit? Authority? Confessions? Study? Evangelism? Missions? Prayer? Servanthood? Sacrifice? Giving? Fellowship? Agreement? Purity? Holiness? Tolerance? The Fruit of the Spirit? Virtue? Trust and honesty? Peace? Hope? Joy? Celebration? Or some combination of any or all of these things?
I think I could build a good scriptural case around each of these as a means of empowerment to a believer. My question is still, "Where is the power?"
I really do not see alot of power in the hands of Christians today. Ask anyone who is a Christian and most will agree that we are living in the end times. Jesus is coming soon.
Powerful and awesome acts of the Apostles are recorded in Acts. I firmly believe that that same dunamis power will be present and available to the church in the last days as well. So where is the power?
Well, do I have you thinking?
I am convinced that many are plugged into the outlet and are ready to do what they were uniquely created to do. I also believe that there is an abundant supply of power that is flowing from an inexhaustible source. What I have discovered is that the fault is in a breach that lies (I didn't misspell that) between the two. But I will not give the credit entirely to the devil and his gang. True enough, the lies originate from there, but a lie requires two participants to work. You got it! It is not God! That means it must be us, right? Right!
The Power is missing not because we are not plugged in, and not because there is no power. The power is missing because of a short circuit called doubt and unbelief.
The enemy of your soul does not mind if you have some victories as a believer. He just wants to win the war! Winning wars requires power or a lack of power. Wars are won by both means. If you have brute strength you go in and take what you want. However, if you lack brute strength, strategy and undoubting persistence is required.
Case in point is the war in Iraq. The battle rages on two fronts. First, our army against theirs. We have every confidence in the ability of the USA being able to win! We know that if we turned the full power of our forces toward the war we would be the victors!
It is the second front where we enter into the same weakness as Christian solders experience. Doubt and unbelief is caused by the lies whispered, even shouted, in our ears. What will others (countries or people) think? Some other way would surely be better! How will it affect our personal lifestyle? Is this really an issue we have to address? Couldn't we put it off until later? There must be something wrong with the leadership! What is this going to cost? This is not only the battle we face in our country; it is the premier battle we are facing in our spiritual walk. Not unlike the USA, we find ourselves powerless! Why? Because we believe the seemingly rational thoughts that our minds produce after being poured through the filter of lies. That always produces doubt and unbelief, even when we are completely understanding of the truth. The USA is well able and even more able is our God.
From the garden until today, the lies (seeds of doubt and unbelief) sown into the hearts and minds of men are the power-cutting strategies of the enemy of our souls.
"He (Satan) comes not but to steal, kill and destroy." That is his plan, Satan's bait: his poisonous seeds that are set out for us.
Where is the power? The power is in the truth! All of those power outlets I listed at the beginning of this article are truth. They are found in the truth, the word of God, and in the person of the Spirit of truth.
Worship in Spirit and Truth. That repairs the short and the power begins to flow. Signs and wonders follow after doubt and unbelief! No, they follow after believers! Believers of the truth, men and women, girls and boys, who hear His voice and obey in the face of the lies they may have heard.
The old song still rings true. We need to hear: "Trust and obey for there is no other way."
Trust the truth and obey the Spirit. The Bible does not promise that it will be easy. The promise is that it works!
That my friend is where the power is! Doubt and unbelief is where it is not!
You are powerful in the hand of God! We walk by faith and can do all things through Him. Doubt and unbelief have no place in your life of victory.
