Hello, to pastors and leaders! I think that you need to have a concept of our ministry before you look into what we recomend to you. We don't want to have you spend valuable time and energy reading and looking at something that you do not agree with. Therefore please read the following statement. If you agree you will find much help in these pages. If not your time is better spent elsewhere!
MINISTRY PHILOSOPHY My outlook concerning ministry has always been very basic in scope and very broad in application. The key scripture verses guiding my leadership of church ministries are as follows: - The two great commandments - Mat 22:37 - 40 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Law = Logos Word - Prophets = Rhema Word)
LOVE GOD and LOVE OTHERS - A very simple concept in the scope of understanding, even a six-year-old can understand and obey these two commands.
While in application, it is completely infinite. Ministry of any kind and at any level must be measured on how well it facilitates people to obey and walk in these two extremely important commands.
1 Cor 13:8 Charity never faileth: Ministry is just busy work and nothing more, unless it is wrapped in genuine agape love. The Word revealed to us who God is in 1 John 4:16. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
You cannot minister, if you do not have love. If you have love, you cannot fail to minister.
- The great commission - Mat 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach (make disciples) of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
A command with promise! God is saying, "You make disciples, and I promise to show up!"
If we GO and TEACH, God says He will be WITH US.
Luke 14:23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
2 Tim 4:5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
If we love God and love others, we will minister (teach) of His great love.
- How do we minister? Jesus let us in on how He did ministry in John 5:19-20.
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
Jesus through the empowering of the Holy Spirit was able to see what the Father was doing. Jesus simply followed His example in obedience.
Jesus in turn, gave us all we need:
His Name, His Blood, His Spirit, His Word and His Love. All we need to be a great church and do awesome ministries (acts / exploits).
I look to the Father and see what He does, then I do that! That is really simple, but not always really easy. It is, however, how we know what God's will is, therefore, what we need to do. His Rhema Word is always confirmed by His Logos Word.
From the Sr. Pastor and elders to the nursery workers, every ministry and every minister must seek to see what God is doing. Each member must jointly fit in place. As a leader, one of our main jobs, is to seek God as to whom He wants and where. Being careful not to place by needs or availability but by the Spirit.
1 Cor 12:13-14 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.
The attitude we need as a body and individually is that of Paul's when he said,
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Rom 1:16-17
The body would not exist apart from the gospel. The body is to preach and teach and demonstrate the gospel.
Rom 10:14-15 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
As the body of Christ, the local church, we need to have lots of beautiful feet ministries.
Like Paul, we need to have these words in our heart. 1 Cor 9:22-24 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain the prize.
We are living in a time like none other, and I hear the cry of Joel:
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision (Joel 3:14).
The church is triumphant, a glorious church, who He is coming for soon. We must make-ready and prepare the bride. We must have "beautiful feet ministries" to help the multitudes still in the valley of decision. These are the compelling words of God that hold my heart. We must be servants to all.
We must have the truth of the gospel and the light of His love. We must be wholly passionate to see Him and do His will in the power of His love. God always uses people, His church, to manifest His will. He has set GIFTS in the church and He has given them authority. (Not to abuse but to build up.)
1 Cor 12:28-31 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet show I unto you a more excellent way.
1 Cor 13:8 Charity(LOVE) never faileth: If you minister in His love, it will be (Christ-like) Christian!
